Nel 1959 l&#8217;allora sindaco, il monarchico Massari, decise improvvisamente di mutarne il nome che almeno dal secolo precedente rispondeva a quello di Domenico de Angelis, dottissimo abate, che scrisse una storia dei letterati salentini che \u00e8 studiata ancora oggi. E infatti, poco prima di quella inutile modifica toponomastica, Vittorio Bodini scriveva una delle sue pi\u00f9 belle poesie intitolata, appunto, via De Angelis, ecco qualche verso:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Via\/ senza eguali come mi canti in cuore,\/ e come son cresciute\/ le piccole figlie di puttana\/ che un tempo vedevo spidocchiare\/ con rare raucedini dalle madri\/ nei momenti liberi&#8221;. E ancora, ricordando le scause :&#8221;E poi al mattino\/le monache:volavano lucenti\/e dense voci, frecce grappoli d&#8217;oro\/ dal convento delle
